Avoid an 18 inch cylinder bore barrel, dont ask me how I know as I'm still scared for life from that day.I use to love dove hunting with my uncle as a kid. I was the retriever lol. If the bird wasn't dead I would shoot it in the head with my red ryder. I want to get back into it at some point. Need to get a good shotgun 1st. #goals

When using a 5.56, aim for the bicep.....
Oh, and while a 556 will get the job done the resulting harvest of meat is less than ideal....
Where exactly would one find a dove’s bicep? When using a 5.56, aim for the bicep.
Under the feathers....Where exactly would one find a dove’s bicep?
Yeah, those grey s.o.b.s will move south with a tailwind - & not come back.Today was a total bust. Had some weird weather - wind out of the North - for a while today. Birds were gone. Three hours out hunting, shot three shells at two very far away birds.
Its Its unfortunately right next to the breast, what a mess.Where exactly would one find a dove’s bicep?
I hunted there yesterday, bagged 9. All of them flying high and in pairs. Not many large groups.Lots of birds flying around El Campo area hope they stay around 2more weeks
Were you north of Castroville or south of town?4 of us took 60 birds in 90 min down near Castroville yesterday. It was like a dove snow globe. 28 ga was perfect.
Down in the south zone.
I once got stuck in a service van that was fully loaded with material in mud. We required a forklift with a extended boom to pull us out.I'm headed back out in a few hours. A friend and I got ~20 last weekend. My place is really muddy and slick after a rain, so I hope it's dried up enough this afternoon. My 2WD, open diff truck can get stuck on wet grass.
