2 gun matches ? Pistol/carbine and carbine matches?

Hey guys, I have competed in IDPA and now that I'm getting into the AR platform I wanted to find matches to shoot the rifle or ideally both.
I'm not very interested in 3 gun competition because I have no need for a shotgun and would prefer something more realistic were you don't leave your rifle behind but transition from rifle to pistol.
Anything like that out there?

Texas Combat Shooters used to do IDPA-ish matches at Elm Fork in Dallas and you could run the stages with a carbine or a handgun.

The times I went I would do it once w a handgun and then another run w the carbine - no transitions.

I think they stopped though.

Where are you? Texas Tactical has carbine matches that they have transition to handgun or start handgun and transition to carbine. They hold them at Austin Rifle Club and Comal County range. Check them out here...

I don't mind driving an hour but more than that is not realistic

Man right now I'm working late on Fridays so I would be getting 4 hours of sleep ad would have to drive 3 hours at least.... Can't enjoy it like that

There at least three separate matches on a monthly basis held in the navasota area. 3gun is pretty much the dominant type.

I've always though shotguns would be good for trench warfare. When they lob grenades towards your trench you could shoot em like skeet .

LOL. I had shotguns in the past but I used to hunt. Now having an AR I don't care for one; I prefer to run far away from those grenades and shoot back from the distance

I just saw Cross timbers action shooting association. That is actually an hour from me and they seem to do carbine matches and IDPA!!!

Are the only GC's that I've found that offer either 3 gun or 2gun/multi gun matches in the area, not sure how they run I have yet to join a club in Houston, haven't had the time.

Get a TDSA membership and run your own 2 gun drills? They are 45 min south of Dallas

I couldn't make it even though we had planned on starting a club to do it over a year ago but I'll call him and see if he took any video of the stages and post them up.

This is in Cresson, not far from Dallas. All their matches are excellent.
