Could it be the NRA supported positions were a compromise position to avoid a much more draconian law? Could some/all of their actions be the same?
Yes, I think it's very likely well intentioned compromises. The result of those compromises is a slow ratcheting of infringement that makes the loss of freedom seem "reasonable".

The authors of the 2A knew you can't compromise with those that want to disarm you.

I think “confessions” is far more accurate.

We’ve seldom been given anything of value in these “compromise”deals.

The NRA has proven to be a disappointment and maybe some of those inaction's were on purpose. During the two years Republicans held both houses and the Presidency reciprocity and hearing protection were not brought up for a vote. If the NRA had pushed for them we would have them as law today!

Just go to the mirror, maybe with a touch of whiskey breath, look yourself in the eye, and swear that you will defend to the death your God-given life and rights, and those of your loved ones.

Having done this, the NRA will become irrelevant to you, and you will no longer give 2 shits about what it does/doesn't do.

The simple fact, no matter how pathetic things currently are, the NRA is still the elephant in the room that the Dems fear the most.

That by itself is worth something. My small money isn't enough to make a difference, so I give mine to other organizations. I've told the NRA I'll upgrade my membership when Wayne is gone, but they're still the big dog in the room in media and political perception.

The Leftists’ hysterical exaggeration of the power of both the NRA and the AR-15 only help to bolster the popularity of both with Patriots.

These type of anti-NRA posts leave me conflicted. I find it hard to believe that the NRA actually works against us for their own financial gain. I sure don't want to believe it and really suspect this stuff is the work of the leftist's trying to undermine grassroot support structures.

Tom King is in NY and this is a NY Senator's post that is not a friend of the NRA FWIW... One board member doesn't speak for the entire board.

Did you read this comment about the NRA fundraiser protest?

"On Thursday night, Kaplan and Lavine gathered with other elected officials and as many as 100 people to protest what organizers said was a fundraiser for the National Rifle Association at the Inn at New Hyde Park.

The NRA doesn’t support any of the safeties that will allow people to not live in fear,” said Sharon Golden, whose organization, Together We Will-Long Island, sponsored the demonstration at the Inn’s Jericho Turnpike locale.

Other groups participating in the 6:15 p.m. protest included Moms Demand Action, Long Island Activists and Long Islanders for Gun Safety"

And some more info about these NY politicians and the NRA...

I maintain that the NRA remains the most visible Pro-Gun rights organization. Withholding support from them seems like a death sentence for the Second Amendment.

Pretty sure that Tom King has refuted those comments...

    https://www.ammoland.com/2019/10/comments-by-nra-board-member-tom-king-regarding-80-lowers/

And a 12 year old video from a deceased Texas Ranger??? Comeon @Hoji Are you an Anti-2A troll?
    Shows a pattern of behavior.
If King is being truthful, he can have the entire interview released.

Bump-Stocks.... I get it but come on, really? Those are really special accessories for modifying intended operation and not actual firearms. I've been told that they (the feds) were going for magazine restrictions and/or bump-stocks. I know, a slippery slope...
