Why does it appear to have dovetail scope mounts?

TBH, it looks cheap to me.

Scope mounts don't matter to me. There are conversion rails you can mount on a dovetail, turn it into a Weaver or Picatinny if you're that anal about it.

Personally, I'm looking forward to buying one, and I hope it does have a dovetail mount. I'll finally have a use for the $20 Tasco scope thats been sitting in my closet for the past year, plus the Quiet-22 rounds.

So, why aren't these showing up on the Ruger website yet? I want to know more, damnit!

    Impatient little spud...

Pics are from Lipsey's (Ruger distributor), but I have no idea why several sellers have info, but Ruger hasn't put it on their website.

I think cost was the driving influence for the design, just like the CF American rifles. I'd suspect the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases just like Marlin and Savage... which is most likely the market segment this rifle is intended to compete in.

Funny I found quiet 22s today and was thinking I really want a bolt gun for this stuff with a separate zero. This thing would be perfect since it fits good old 10/22 mags.

Amen to that, man. The Q-22s are scary-quiet out of a bolt-action, lever-action or a revolver. Not even close to kidding, I have a pellet gun that is louder than these things (confirmed by a decibel meter. Q-22s were 65-72 decibels at the ear, pellet gun was 70-80).

I've been waiting for this one and when they become available, I'll jump! I owned a Ruger 77/22 for a while and it was a fine rifle but WAY too expensive! I'll wait to see what the market offers.
