I may have a loose screw or two… but I cannot get this trigger adjustment screw loose (to adjust) on my Savage Stevens model 334 .308 bolt action.

It’s factory glued (or something) in place

any ideas? I’ve been trying heat and acetone, and other chemicals that may break it free from the epoxy (or whatever) they used at the factory

I have very good screwdrivers that fit (even hollow ground types) but the head won‘t last forever

here’s a picture (not me) of the screw I’m working on …. And here’s the video which describes what I’m trying to do

    any ideas would be appreciated

There’s a hole in the trigger guard that seems to suggest you can adjust the trigger, but the owner’s manual specifically states, “The trigger screw is fixed and is factory set, do not try to force it.”

Edit: Watched the video. Likely being able to defeat the manual safety is why it is epoxied. Just too many bad things can happen without the safety (IMHO).

Then… I pulled a “never let Jimmy use a dremel on a gun” and destroyed the screw head with the dremel

guess I now still have a .308 with a crappy 5.5lb trigger that will never be adjustable

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy…. Sell the dremel (instead of the gun) and save myself future grief :)

Yep… watched plenty of videos and know it can be done (despite manual)… but I suck at gunsmithing

    Yep… been looking all over

no one makes a part for the Stevens 334 yet, for now

maybe I’ll just take the trigger group out… remove the pins and work on the internals and springs (uh oh… I may get in over my head!)

The Stevens is a Turkish made bolt action- (the same as a ATA Turqua)... except the trigger is trash on the Stevens.

If I can find a replacement....I will buy it.

Have inquiries out to all the trigger group manufacturers listed above... but I'm not hopeful

The Stevens 334 (by "Savage" ... but made in Turkey for them) is not listed anywhere

My only possible hole is finding a trigger group from the Turkish ATA Turqua which is supposed to be a good adjustable trigger

More to come when I start hearing back from Rifle Basix et. al.

Thank you and Yep… awesome… I had run into that post and looked at all the pieces, parts and springs during my trigger research said ‘oh my’.…

I do believe it will be beyond my capabilities.

he did an excellent job showing how one could attack the existing trigger

here’s a pic of the trigger group on the gun (happens to be the clone… the ATA Turqua bolt gun)

hope to just find a replacement
