.30-06????
Oh yeah, I remember now. You mean there are still some FUDDs that shoot that caliber?? Damn. Who would have thunk it.
.224 Valkyrie is way better for a centerfire cartridge.

Here we go with the 'FUDD' talk and the only thing that was left out for now was 'BOOMER' being used in a negative manner aka a SLAM.

I never bought or owned a 30-06 caliber rifle but my Montana husband, not my late husband, has killed MANY ELK with one specific rifle of his that has fed us, his late parents, his former family and many guests.

Yes, that rifle is made out of beautiful walnut and blue steel and it is OLD - one of his oldest rifles.

He uses it on specific terrain on a HUGE private ranch and on some public land. Plus at the range on and off.

With that said, he has used/shot his MADE IN CT MARLIN rifles in 30-30 Winchester and 45-70 Government the most in the last several years of hunting and target practice.

He does NOT shoot his other tack driver .223 rifle as much as the other rifles.

He shoots a BUNCH of 22lr and 22wmr rifles mainly in CZ rifles.

Me?

I personally LOVE 22lr and 22wmr firearms. Past and present times and FORMER and current firearms.

I was NOT impressed with the 5.56 Nato or .223 caliber rifles that I shot even though one of them was a SWEET tack driver in the CZ brand. Those calibers just NEVER DID anything for me. And I preferred to shoot a 22wmr RIFLE instead of those 2 listed above.

The VERY FIRST CF rifle that I ever shot was on BLM land in Colorado using a friend's .223 rifle. Ruger Mini 14 - wood stock. It belonged to a late and best friend of mine in gun rights - RKBA politics. He was a Nam Vet like my late husband but in a different branch of service.

The VERY FIRST CF rifle what I ever BOUGHT and owned was out here in Montana not back east. It was a Made in CT MARLIN 336C - 30-30 Winchester caliber rifle. Walnut and blue steel. I do not hunt. I have gone on some hunts. I used it for woods/wilderness protection. I used it a LOT.

I preferred to shoot several other FORMER CF firearms - rifles and handguns of mine compared to ANY .223 rifle too.

I figure to each their own.

Buy, own, and shoot what you want to in firearms even though some of them may NOT impress some of us at ANY AGE.

Disclaimer: I only shoot 22lr and 22wmr rifles now due to my physical issues.

Plus my last 2 firearms (CZ 457 Lux.) were given to my husband even though I can still shoot them safely and I keep up my skills.

Plus I can shoot some of the other CZ rifles of his if I choose to do so.

Me? I LOVE lever action and bolt action rifles even if some people make fun of them and some of us who LOVE to shoot them.

I don't own a cellular smart or dumb telephone too. I use a landline - house telephone.
