    For something a little more cerebral, "Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead" is a brilliant movie. It takes two minor characters from Hamlet who are...well, they think they're very smart at least...and follows them through their side of the play. Witty dialogue (and not in Shakespearean English, thankfully) and definitely a different "off screen and behind the scenes" view of the play as if it had been real events.

    Yep, and it's a great horror movie where it's real suspense and horror rather than just another fucking slasher. But Aliens is the exciting, quotable action movie that I'll stop and watch any time it's on.
    Not only that, the preview was sinister and vague--unlike current previews which give the entire movie away--so it was amazing to watch the actual movie unfold. To this day, I try not to watch preview for movies that I think I am really going to like. I did that with The Matrix and was glad I did.

    Maybe because that list is full?
    With this trifecta:
    * Elf
    * Trapped in Paradise
    * Mixed Nuts
    I don't see Die Hard in there...

    And yes, it is. Here's the data:

    Enough comments...here's my list. Warning: I've been a movie fan forever, so I have a lot of favorites. I tried to pick out the ones that are not as widely appreciated. They are in alpha order, not order of greatness:

    American Psycho--bloody, quirky, trip
    Atomic Blonde--Jane Wick with a 1980s soundtrack
    Bone Tomahawk--you have never seen a western like this
    Count of Monte Cristo (2002)--made a classic book fun to watch
    Den of Thieves--the closest I've seen to recreating the thrill of Heat (1995)
    Detention--a mile a minute crazed movie about high school in the 90s (and so much more)
    Fracture--intense battle of wits in a murder case (R Gosling vs A Hopkins)
    Frailty--a very disturbing B Paxton and M McConaughey horror film without the gore
    The Game--an all time favorite thriller by Fincher with M Douglas and S Penn
    Heredity--for horror fans...so well done
    History of Violence--Viggo with a dark past in a small town
    Kingpin--I have never laughed so hard so many times in my life in a 90 min period
    Kiss Kiss Bang Bang--very funny mystery with V Kilmer, R Downey Jr, and M Monaghan
    Last of the Mohicans (1992)--another classic book as an outstanding movie
    Master and Commander--Brits vs French on the high seas...how did this R Crowe action movie never get noticed?
    The Nice Guys--another very funny mystery, but this time with R Crowe and R Gosling
    The Northman--moody, violent Viking revenge story
    A Perfect Getaway--well written serial killer thriller in a Hawaiian paradise
    The Revenant--L DiCaprio and T Hardy intense revenge story in the early 1800s fur trapping days
    Sunshine--a sci-fi end of times thriller in space with great actors
    Wind River--outstanding wilderness murder mystery with J Renner and E Olsen
