I've thought about getting my son a Henry lever action in .22. Would be great for plinking at the ranch. What’s the best budget 22lr lever action rifle that doesn’t struggle to cycle rounds.

Sounds like a decent gun to have out in the pasture.Get that Henry lever action H001. Eats everything I put in it, good construction, and at least for me, tolerates not being cleaned as regularly as it should be (especially useful for those of us that don't fully clean every gun we shoot every time we shoot ).
The Henry H0001. Their basic model.

My experience is opposite to this. The Henrys I've worked the action on have been buttery smooth, without exception.<>
The Henry .22WRM’s are popular around here, as our « game preserves » restrict feral hog hunters to rimfires during times the deer seasons are closed.
I’ve heard that the Henry’s have ’’rough cycles’’ compared to the old Marlin’s ? Is this correct ?

You liked shooting mine IIRC.Sounds like a decent gun to have out in the pasture.
No need for a new thread, but are there any .22 lever guns that can shoot .22short, .22long, and .22LR reliably? Hopefully with a threaded muzzle?
