    Somewhere in Texas!
This weekend since it was rather blustery outside, I spent some time in the shop.

A simple table saw sled, I built a much smaller one early on for some work on smaller stuff. The new sled can handle material up to 12 inches in depth.

Next a tapering jig, it can also be used to true up stock. I need to make another centering stop block so I can do four sided tapers.

And finally a simple planter utilizing these newly built accessories.

The planter is from some rough sawn pine pallet material except the pot plant supports, those are made from fence picket scraps from the marten house, I may paint this and then distress it, I have not decided on a finish yet.

You do very, very nice work.

My stuff looks like something Homer Simpson would be proud he built...until it fell apart.

Thus, my week-end project consists of hoping I can, I know I can, clip my toenails...maybe, my dunlop may say no!

Thank you, but I am a rank amateur at best, my skills need much improvement.

So to start the weekend off right, I finally have gotten around to building a simple planer stand from some scrap materials I had laying around. I will get around to adding some type of storage to it. I have not decided. Finally unwrapped my Christmas present to myself! I still need to finish set up and any calibration if needed.

I appreciate the kind compliments, but I really have much to learn. I do not mind criticism, it drives one to learn and improve. The stand is assembled with glue and pocket holes and screws. It is my intent for this to be a temporary stand, I wanted to be able to use the plane and get it off of my table.

Many, many years ago I taught "woodshop" in a high school. Best job I ever had. Students liked it and so did I! Many students who could not be very successful in other school classes, programs, etc. turned out to be very successful in the "hands on" vocational classes.

Kids really need this kind of class to develop "spatial awareness" and basic skills. IMO it also gives them a sense of pride to make something and be creative.

Heh! I remember once the assistant principal called down to the "shop" and asked why I didn't count one of my students absent (he had not been to any other classes that day). I told him I didn't count the student absent because he was there working on his project!
I 100% agree with you, 7th and 8th grade the only classes I participated in was shop class and keyboarding. I’ve owned a construction company for 13 years and can still properly type invoices to this day.

Let all the other teachers tell it, I was a problem that would go nowhere in life.

PERSONALLY I THINK THEY NEED MORE VOCATIONAL CLASSES IN SCHOOL BECUAASE NOT EVERY STUDENT IS COLLEGE MATERIAL OR PLANS ON GOING TO COLLEGE VOCATIONAL CLASSES HELPED ME EARN A GOOD LIVING FOR MANY YEARS AND SUPPORT TWO EX WIVES!

Added some shelves to the stand and a door to the front, I need to make 2 more doors for the sides. The shelves will be where I store my pocket hole screws and pocket hole tool. The front will house a small pancake air compressor that I use for my brad and wire nail guns. The piano hinge sort of ruins the "theme" of the stand, but it is what I had on hand.

The plane functions flawlessly, no end snipe at all. I only tested on some soft pine, the "white" boards on the door are those test pieces.

Alright damn it. Your shop is way too clean and organized. What is this, a plot? adjusting tin foil hat. Your trying to get me to go out and clean up, and put shit away, and organize that mess. You know this will take days or weeks. So what is the devious plan, must be nefarious, as its driving me to drink ( thanks)

    Sorry, just green with envy.
