Pop has a Mitsubishi mini split, installed in an upstairs game room that always had trouble cooling. It’s going on close to 15 years and still going strong. I don’t know the specs on it. My point of posting is that it’s been reliable and not what I would consider noisy at all.Mitsubishi.
Industry leader in mini split.
Runner up,
American Standard.
That’s a really good plan, now would be the time to do it. My AC guy said prices are about to skyrocket after the first of the year on AC components. If you want I can ask him if that’s a good price for what you’re getting?Ok final answer...
Since my downstairs R410a unit is over 15 years old and literally on it’s last legs, we’re gonna replace it with a larger system, with a damper for the garage so they can have some independent temp control.
Details:
5 ton
heat pump
19 seer
variable speed
I’ll be Into this setup for $14k.
We’re money ahead compared to installing a mini split for the garage and upgrading our old R410a unit.
And my summertime $800 power bill to maintain 82 degrees indoors should be over.
Sure that would be great! That’s a really good plan, now would be the time to do it. My AC guy said prices are about to skyrocket after the first of the year on AC components. If you want I can ask him if that’s a good price for what you’re getting?
Good call...@deemus will take care of meDon't forget your tax credits.
Depending on how they are zoning it determines how well it’ll work, it has to have a return and supply ducts, how much they are charging for zoning determines whether it’s better to go mini split or zoning. Plus it depends on the brand of equip they are quoting, If it’s one the highest efficiency units or not.Sure that would be great!
I've got two contractors opinions so far, they're telling me it's a good price...another set of eyes would be cool.
I priced out just the components and it's defintely not a cheap system. But there's more to value than just the purchase price.
