The biker called the police immediately after the crash? Yeah I did not know that. Do you have a source?

In your original link. The eye witness (not a biker friend) told 911 dispatch the woman just took off, driving a blue Kia. I'm guessing they could not see a license plate number. By everything I see and read, the witnesses were independent of the motorcyclist. In the bodycam video, I only see one bike. And I need to find the link, but I also read that the guy and witnesses were on the road in front of her house waiting for police to show up, not on her property.

There are multiple links reporting that the guy and witnesses were out on the roadway in front of her house, she retrieved her gun and went out to the road to confront the people while one was on the line with 911.

I guess local police feel comfortable with his self defense stance, he is a free man, not under arrest. They of course know more details than we do.

He seemed to be in her driveway when he was lying down being detained.

As for following somebody that just committed a crime against you... might be ok, might not. Have to be a good witness, but trying to get her to stop, and a bunch of bikers following... prob a bit threatening in and of itself.

ETA: ASP is always saying never to follow crims into unknown spaces who might have unknown accomplices... if her hubby had come out shooting, coulda had a diff ending.

I don’t know who ASP is, but I have this conversation with a lot of folks on this topic:

When you sense confrontation with an unknown subject, the first question you need to ask yourself is whether it’s worth it to kill somebody over. If the answer is no, then you really need to consider how hard you want to push a button that very well could end in you killing somebody.

I don’t think *most* people really consider what the aftermath of killing someone does to you.

All of this is so true. But, how many folks really condition their ego to be a positive thing.

    Thanks

I may have broke the story but I am certainly playing catch up

    ^^^THIS.

I am a regular watcher of their videos. Learned a lot that way, when I thought I already knew everything. :frog:

Regarding ego challenges, I had a years worth of martial arts... my Sifu would regularly get one us into a corner surrounded by the others and have them push and knock the individual around. You learn not to let it get to you... very much applies to CC and being out in public places; stores, parking lots, road/hwy. (Unfortunately, I never learned that online but am doing a better job not feeding the trolls.)

    But,

if she did hit [edit] him on purpose, that is a serious crime right there, and [edit] he should have called 911. [edit] he is no longer trying to get "insurance information" but [edit] is trying to pursue and apprehend a criminal. Pursuing and apprehending criminals without calling police is often called ... it starts with a "v".... I think there is currently a trial on GA where 3 guys were pursuing a suspected criminal and shot him, how is that going....

I told ya' all this was going to be good.

And we still do not know what precipitated intentionally running into the biker.

edit to correct "them" to "him" for clarity.

I agree. But with the lack of any real facts I’m trying to back off a little bit from my initial reaction.

I really don’t think it makes sense to enter someone’s property and shoot them except under some very narrow circumstances.

IF she walked out to the road it will definitely have an effect on my opinion and open up more possibilities, probably to a very neutral point depending on what else comes out relating to how it all started, especially what initiated the original confrontation.

Depending on how it all started, I can see plenty of reasons not to stop. Even if I may have initially been in the wrong.

I would likely be making my own calls to LE, but stopping for a group of likely angry people is low on my list of “things I’m likely to do”.

Going out to the street seems extremely stupid.

And I really don’t get all the pregnancy hormone talk. Wife had 2 kids, both sisters had 2 each. Never remember any of them trying to run over anyone. If she intentionally hit them I feel like the woman was already a psycho or there was a prior altercation that lead to her fleeing without concern for any vehicle damage. But IF she walked out to the road with a gun the idea of fear starts to fall apart.

Then it will really start coming down to whether or not the biker guy escalated the situation (may not be the correct legal wording and may not apply there, idk).

In the end, this guys life would probably be much easier if he had stayed back from the house and waited for LE to arrive. We can learn from it regardless of the legal outcome.

As Todd alluded, you carry a gun you really have to look 87 moves forward as to how things could end if get into an altercation.

Many of these types shootings involve simple escalations, many of which are not illegal, until you find your self in a DF situation and are out of options. This to is one of the things ASP constantly discusses.

Simple answer is to not escalate situations and you won’t have to worry if you find yourself out of options.
