Yesterday I stopped by the Academy in Mansfield. They had signs up like others have said that the limit is now 4 boxes.
Well, just about the only thing they had was 5.56, about 20 boxes left.
I have enough .223 and 5.56 so I left it for others.

It sounds like the Academy stores are pretty much all getting the same stuff in all of their stores. I don't think people are willing to pay what they are asking for it....and, that's probably a good sign.

I bought a few boxes of 38 special range ammo for what was roughly pre scamdemic prices.

if you think the ammo is high at academy, just go see what the gun show scalpers are doing.

A fool and his money is easily separated.

The gun show pirates are smoking the wrong stuff.
At the last show I saw $1 per round on plain old vanilla 9mm. Anything else was higher than that.
    They're nuts.

.22 and the miltary type calibers seem to be well supplied. Others not so much but still available at high prices. Federal site had .44 mag at $1.40 a round and I just had to buy 4 boxes for my new pistols. Ammo for the .454 Casull is over $3 a round (old .50 BMG prices). My revolver came with 2 1/2 boxes though so none of that for me right now.

I go to the Conroe gun show, I have been dealing with the same vendors for years, I know who is honest and does this for fun and not necessarily money.

I was able to trade round per round for ammo I wanted. I also stood outside and sold some of my ammo I didn’t need for half what they are selling for inside. It lasted about 20 minutes. I am glad to take business from those assholes.

Yes, prices are significantly higher than pre rona. But the $21.99 for a 50 pack of 9mm at Academy is still cheaper than the prices at ranges (one close by sells it $35 for a box of 50). It's cheaper than anything on ammo seek. Plus it's now regularly available. Yes it sucks but what you going to do? Still believe you'll find it for $9.99 a box? Good luck.

My buddy always says that ammo today will always be cheaper then the next panic.

when I have the funds and availability returns I will be buying several thousand rounds of every caliber I want. That way I can sit back and laugh at everyone who is still playing catch up.

This may be posted elsewhere, but for the sake of keeping it in an ammo thread, here is something to brighten everyone’s evening:

Two tractor trailers of Aguilla ammo (mostly .22) numbering about 7 million rounds were stolen on a Mexican highway.

Get ready for another price increase.

EDIT: As noted by ZX9RCAM, the story was posted in News. I should have searched before posting: https://www.texasguntalk.com/thread...la-bound-for-texas-hijacked-by-cartel.105733/
