Nope. State law takes precedence.IIRC, Texas passed a "parking lot protection" bill which prevents employers from restricting your ability to keep your firearm locked in your car. However, if you signed an employee agreement, that would probably take precedence.
"At will" does not give complete and total free reign to employers. A lot of latitude, but there are still successful wrongful dismissal suits. Also keep in mind that Texas employment is "at will", meaning you can quit anytime, and they can fire you for no reason at all (unless you are a protected class).
Seventeen pages ...OMG!
The way some of these companies are nowadays, they'd fire him just for having an LTC.The only recourse that I can suggest is that you talk to the managers, show your LTC, see if you can get an exemption. Otherwise you are out of luck.
Wait a minute ! Didn't Texas pass a special law several years back on this issue? IIRC, one the of the large insurance companies in San Antonio was sued by a previous employee, prompting the State to pass a law making sure that "Employer's Property Rights" couldn't trump people's CONSTITUTIONAL rights. Someone please ask a knowledgeable Texas Attorney.

I carried a subb nose Smith & Wesson 44 magnum in a holdster under my steering wheel in the 80_90`s near the Rio grand border in my company owned 18 Wheeler! Company rules in the book stated no but I did fend off many illegal immigrants at the gates at night! Either defend myself or die! I chose live! Of course shooting a 44 mag snub at night was loud and bright! Never ever though bringing a revolver to a gang fight! But it made its point! Now all these rules on locations and differ from state to state are f@#ked up!I’m a contractor working on a drilling rig in W. Texas. I drive 500 miles to the rig, live in a provided trailer on site while working for 2 weeks before returning home for days off. Most oil companies & the company I consult for have no firearms rules. It’s my understanding that Texas law allows you to keep a firearm locked in your car at work. Some of the oil companies conduct random vehicle searches for drugs & firearms. Am I within my legal rights to keep my firearm locked out of sight in my car on location & what recourse do I have if I lose my contract if the firearm is discovered. I am a LTC holder. I don’t intend to drive that far, often at night, especially with what is going on at the border.
Welcome to the Forum! One problem that may not have been addressed is that in many oil and gas leases there are conditions that mandate that no firearms may be brought on the leased property. The company may risk violating lease terms if you bring a firearm on the property while in their employment even as a subcontractor/drilling company employee.
