My buddy on keto likes to drink topochico & vodka with a squeeze of lime instead of beer.

I think liquor screws with water retention and messes with my metabolism. Twice now I've had a night of drinking derail a week or so of progress. I'm just going to abstain since I don't drink all that often anyway.

Honestly, for the price I prefer other options, but realize taste preference plays a lot in enjoying whiskey. I don’t care for sweet/syrupy bourbons, which usually finds me leaning towards a relatively wheaty bourbon.

If you find EH Taylor, I find it to be far superior across the board for about $10 more, maybe less.

WL Weller, at $10+ less than TX is also on my list of great value and taste bourbons.

Bulleitt and some of the Old Foresters also fall into the category of stuff I prefer over TX for about the same price.

Agreed!! TX blended is really smooth; however on my palate it's sweet. I like smooth but spicy (perhaps that's what you describe as wheaty). A neighbor gave me a handle of it for Christmas... will use for sharing when guests are over and they like whiskey cokes or rocks.

Bulleit, Wild Turkey 101, Four Rose's single barrell are my usual staples.

101 has been the overwhelming majority for the past 6 or so months.

I'll add... the only way I drink whiskey is straight, on the rocks. I'm assuming the same for you gents.
