Leave for New Orleans Monday, then Destin Tues-Sunday. Son at Ft Benning meets us there Wednesday with his girlfriend from Austin (she’s flying in).
Really close friends in there 60s are joining all of us for supper on Thursday and there is a career field get-together on our last night. Probably 40 or 50 of us for drinks and such at a local joint that is connected to our community.
Combat couldn’t kill us, so we’ll take our chances.

WELL SAID.
IF my much beloved adult daughter was going to be available for Turkey Day rather than out of state, I suspect that we would host a SMALL dinner party on Thanksgiving night, for 6-10 persons.
ALAS, she will be out of Texas for another 10 days or more after Thanksgiving on UT business.

You know what I'm thankful for? Covid. A silver lining to the whole covid thing.
The fact that one fat relative wont be showing up to Thanksgiving this year. The one who never hosts. The one who's first to the table last out only to collapse on your couch for a nap and take up the whole thing like some sunning hippo sleeping off the 100 dollars in turkey ham and pie they just choked back leaving a wallow mark in it that takes 3 weeks to recover all while your family takes bets on weather the couch will break this year. The one you pre pay piano movers to act as pallbearers along with the funeral services.
Thank god for covid.

Never dealt with that, but we’re selective about which relatives even know what county we live in, much less how to get to our house.
We’ve had 6-8 people in my very large family hit with the Rona, two of which just got it this week.
So we have decided that each family will do their own thing. Some have a family member in the “at risk” group. At my house It will be me and my daughter, but I’m extending an invitation to all the others. But my money is on no one else showing up.

So that's why I hadn't gotten an invitation!
I'll be doing my social distancing out in the woods for Thanksgiving. I love what family I have left, but don't necessarily like them much. Some are Dems and I just can't deal with their bullshit. The family's ranch will be vacant all next week/weekend, so I'll be out there and I'm going after a venison dinner.
