Just curious, how many bear and cougar do you think are in Texas?

And you consider whitetail, axis and muleys to be big game? Seriously!
There are actually tons of mountain lions in Texas. I see them fairly often. I don’t shoot them because I do not hunt apex predators( professional courtesy ;) ) and there is no season or bag limit on them.

I have shot 2 black bears in CA, both with a 270 win. Was after a big one (on the plus side of 800#) but could never get close. A friend of mine did get close to this same bear...once. He was on the opposite side of a bush and could hear the bear eating on the other side. All he had was a S&W 500 revolver (maybe a variant), but couldn't get a shot. Toughest animal that I hunted was an Audad outside of Alpine. First shot pinned him (300 ultra mag @ 437 yds. across a canyon). Finished him off with 270 win. Have never seen a mountain lion/cougar in the wild.

Go ahead and kill a bear in Texas. Let us know how that works out for you.
This statement has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are 100% ignorant at best.
Well, I would not hunt anything in Texas without reading over game regs first anyway. Reading the book eliminates ignorance and being in the dog house with game wardens.

What is the definition of big game?

North American big game: game that is deer and heavier critters plus any hoofed animals regardless of weight, includes bear, cougar and wolf wherever legal to hunt them

excludes: rabbits, squirrels, coyote, bobcat, any non-game species, fox, any feathered game

The pseudo profundities are hilarious: "Reading the book eliminates ignorance"
