A historian I am not!Nope, the "X in the middle" story is bullshit. The county was originally named "San Antonio de Béxar" when it was part of Mexico. It's pronounced "bear" by English-speakers and by Spanish-speaking Texans.
A historian I am not!
Not to the natives. And San Antonio is San Tone .
I’m about as native as they get, hell I was born within a few blocks of the Alamo, my tribe came over in 1850.Not to the natives.
I still crack up when the mapping programs try to say stuff like Kuykendahl, and it comes "cuh-KEN-dal". Or Telge turns into "TEL-juh" or just "TELj".
Then there's the ever lasting debate of whether it's San Fuh-LEE-pay or San Filuh-PEE.
Don't let the foreigners find this! Here’s the “rest” of them. Sorta normal sounding and some oddities as well.
