Law and order...we have to have a trial first.
Okay. Have them aloud read the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Magna Carta, and British Common Law. Then describe how their actions are in absolute defiance. We present their actions and arguments to those attendance and ask them how to proceed.

No one's talking about Lord Wolff of San Antonio's latest play? Or did this get it's own thread I missed?

I saw that, then read his order and couldn’t reconcile it.

Gonna have to review it again.

ETA: the temp check and screening question apparently are buried in an amendment to NW-10 and then NW-11 was issued that prohibits large outdoor gatherings. Unless, of course, it’s an excepted activity. Probably looting a protesting is okay, but only certain protests.

El Jefe and Herr Great Wolff are making it exceedingly clear their desire is to force people to choose to self-lockdown or face a miserable experience in public and if you’re a small business they’d rather see you closed than open.

An acquaintance of mine has tested positive. He is TNG and administered thousands of tests himself.

He has a headache. That's his symptom.

Last week two coworkers at my wife's work tested positive. One with symptoms, one without. The one with symptoms sits right next to my wife, they even went to lunch together last week. The wife said mask wearing was minimal at best in the office. In addition, my wife also has a somewhat suppressed immune system.

My wife and all other employees of this small medical office have all tested negative and none have shown any symptoms since those tests either. Make of it what you will.

7,959 new cases in Texas yesterday. Up from around 2k per day two weeks ago. This thing is starting to get legs.
As long as testing continues to increase, so will the case count. Simple science.

And nothing will kill this virus. We either reach herd immunity or a vaccine helps (which would be years away if it happens).

I agree. The more testing done, it stands to reason there should be a higher amount of positive cases. What matters, is how many deaths are occuring. From what I have been seeing posted on various forums, the death rates are not increasing.

Not responding directly at you Bozz, but without knowing the extent of the cases, these numbers really don't mean anything and only serve to create fear. If by and large the majority of that 7959 were at home recovering, showing minor symptoms and even showing no signs of it at all, I think it would give the people a clearer picture of what they are dealing with.

One thing that I have seen no explanation for: the positivity rate was running low to mid single digits for WEEKS. In the last few days it went up to ten percent, then close to 20%. Now, why would that be? They are doing lots of tests, so getting more false positives? It's really spreading around in the "herd" more?

With more testing and a higher positive rate, yes, the numbers are gonna climb. Interesting that the death numbers don't track this increase (yet; what's the lag for that?).

Just lots of weirdness out there, that's all.

Who’s most likely to get tested? Most likely someone feeling ill and having been advised to get the test or someone who‘s been hanging around someone that was positive. Introduces a bias in the population.

The ration to look at is positives to deaths. So in a couple of weeks, funeral directors are gonna be real busy or we start to get a better idea of the true mortality rate.

Right, and I considered that, too. However, I would almost expect the percent positivity rate to go DOWN, not up. Early on, they ONLY allowed tests for the symptomatic. So you should get a fair number of positives from that. Over time, they expanded to the general population. Any Karen with hypochondriac tendencies can go in.

I would expect it to go DOWN.

From what I’ve see. They still are unlikely to test without symptoms or direct contact with someone who’s tested positive.
