Shooting is done at ranges or on private land. Almost all Texas dirt is private property.

Noted, guess I'll have to make friends and ask around. One day I hope to be able to own a decent amount of acres. I may even buy a huge portion of land and make that a tiny BLM spot for people who want to camp/Target shoot.

Keep in mind, there is a huge chunk of the Conservative population in California leaving as well. I know we don't always send our best, but those who care will genuinely try to stop people from choosing those voting patterns

    Welcome to the forum.

That's a good point as I am sure a significant portion of people who are leaving CA are conservative and they will certainly be taking their voting preferences with them. This explains why the middle class is disappearing in CA as I would imagine a good portion of them are conservative. I left CA myself back in 1990 and have never regretted it.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find several California and West Coast refugees on here. I left 10 years ago and won't ever return.

So I’m sitting in the barber shop in little old Boerne, TX. There’s three other dudes besides me waiting to get our ears lowered.

Three are reminiscing about their lives in CA and bemoaning the fact that Texas has so little public land and they’re so “restricted” in what they can do here.

Meanwhile, I’m working on my coffee and trying to keep breakfast down.

Whoops, another just came in. They think they have me surrounded...oh what little do they know.

As much as that's a very nice sentiment, I'd want you to be very careful. Just because we're in TX doesn't mean we don't have our share of issues....

Our ranges are okay...some much better than others. I have a three step approach to shooting (since I don't have my own place I can shoot on...)

    1. Find a good range and support it

    2. Try shooting some local competitions like IDPA and Steel Shooting, or clays, and find what works for you. The comps are a lot of fun with the right organizers...

    3. I do have a few friends who have property and shoot on them. I make sure and use this privilege sparingly and pretty much only when invited. I've seen folks wear out their "come anytime" offer.

    Take care, and best wishes

Remind those dumb asses why they left there in the 1st place, the lack of public shooting areas are far out weighed by the other benefits.

    Come on in!

We need like minded people to unbalanced the beam as the scale tends to favor the left side in Austin (if you decide Austin).

Don’t forget to shut the door behind when you come in. Welcome to Texas!

"and they’re so “restricted” in what they can do here"

What would you guess that means?

This group is flopping between BLM off-roading and RVs, and comparing electric bills in LA county and here. One guy is saying $900/mo as a high point for him.

Another guy is talking about being fined by the water company for exceeding the expected usage for his household for six months in a row.

Oh, trust me - I'm VERY aware of the splits in CA politics - I've been watching them for years. It's just such a shame to see a state destroy itself because of a few handfuls of lunatics.

BTW - it's not "the 10", etc here in Texas - It's "10" or "I-10", etc. That Kalifornia-speak will get ya marked REAL quick......lol

Will do. I'll join a range, and I'll more than likely live in the Pan Handle or West Texas, so I need to camp or whatever I could just drive to New Mexico and do that on BLM land.
As much as I like the panhandle, it's just shy of the north pole in winter. West Texas doesn't have much in the way of flora and looks a lot like Bakersfield in the 60's.
