What did you do today in the world of reloading?

Moved over the first p1k to squeeze in the second. I haven't yet ordered the replacement parts for the single stage from Lee so I took the handle off the new p1k and put it on the single so I can deprime some 9 and 45 brass. I don't know what to do with the RS-2 yet though. I still have a mec-jr on another bench as well.

Got my mystery press in the mail today. $3 raffle win. It's an RCBS RS-2.

I got a second box in today as well. A guy on Facebook was complaining what his pro1000 carrier broke. I offered to buy it for parts. I got it in the mail today and it's a complete pro1000 with all parts but the broken carrier.

I think I have enough room for one on the bench. I'm building a new seat bench for my table and have some small 6"-8" scraps of 2x8. I'm thinking of trying to mount each press to a piece of it and then just use big c-clamps to secure each to the bench when I need it.

Anyone ever do this?

That's how mine are mounted. Even my LnL AP with case feeder is mounted on a piece of 2x10. Nothing is permanently mounted to my bench.

The key is buying deeper clamps to get the hold more toward the back.

Then you can mount them on a shelf out of the way too.

Very handy system.

I started out that way. I bolted my Lee single stage press to a 2x4 and clamped it onto a folding sawhorse.
I used that for years, until I got married and moved into a house.

Well after I thought about it yesterday I figured I had enough bench space, I just needed to clean some of the other junck out of the way to access it. I should have enough room to run them all. My bench is about 7 feet long and I'm only using about half of it now.

I thought I was being slick when I ordered my InFab with swapable plates but now I'm hearing about C-clamping presses I'm feeling like I jumped the gun here.

Since I stuck my third effing 223 case(two in two week's time!)I'm scouring the web looking for solutions and I found a vid of a guy using a Lee hand press to decap cases.

Any thoughts on this? It holds 50 primers so I could bring it in the house, provided the sammichmaker was making sammiches offsite. It looks almost like a toy.
I'd like to see one up close but for $20 I might make a play for one.

Decapping while sizing isn't going to cause stuck cases you need better lube.

Use more lube. I like the Hornady One Shot lube. It dries quickly (I hate waiting) and I've never stuck a case since I've been using it the last 8 years.

Spray from every direction so it all gets covered, then wait 2 minutes before starting. I usually do 50 at a time.

Did some more casting today. Various .45 bullets, 155 gr SWC, 225 flat nose with a cup point, 230 ball.

I got all the 9mm bullets from yesterday coated.

The uncoated pile is 23 lbs. The container is 31 lbs.

I decap separately. The accident happened after I decapped the last of my once fired case bought over the years.

I was using the FA/Midway lube I've always used.

Possibly overLubed since I had just reapplied lube to the pad, rolled a case and couldnt get it back down/out.

What's the headstamp of the brass you're decapping? I've been reading about F&S stamped brass being horrible to decap as the flash holes are off center. I wonder if you're having a similar issue.

I've seen this with some perfecta 223. When I tumble my 223si trash any of those I come across. Oddly enough I haven't had an issue with some of their 380 or 9mm brass mixed in with my assortment. Works just fine for those.

I had been casting 105gr 380s for a while so switching ng to the new 230gr 45 mold was different. Took me a little bit to figure out the right temps for everything. I cast up a few hundred last night. I also learned that the 230s hold their heat a LOT longer than the 105s did. I got a little burn right next to my wedding ring. Nothing serious, just hurts a bit. I'll chalk it up to "lessons learned the hard way that my should have already known"

I also sized 500 9mm. I still have about 400-500 left to do but I usually do them 100 at a time throughout an evening. Working today but I'll work on those tonight and tomorrow. I still have about 1400 cast PC already sized and ready for them.
