Mexican Drug Cartel Seizes Two Texas Ranches: 2005 Department of Justice Intelligence Bulletin Warned Local Authorities in CA, AZ about Los Zetas Drug Cartel | DBKP - Death By 1000 Papercuts - DBKP

There’s a story unfolding in South Texas involving local authorities who refuse or deny two South Texas ranches were taken over last night by a Mexican drug cartel, the Los Zetas, with the ranchers “escaping without incident”. That there could be, currently underway, an operation involving local authorities and federal authorities involving the two ranches which includes a media blackout of the news.

I can tell you that last month in LaSalle County there was a burglary at a large game ranch that was perpetrated by the Zetas. They tagged up the lodge and stole a bunch of guns. they also left their shoes and stole new shoes to leave "less scent". When the land owner got to his gate he heard a gunshot....later learned that they probably saw his headlights and the lookout fired the shot signaling the crew to get out of the house. Local Deputies claim this was no where near the first Zeta related burglary on the remote ranches of the area.

Was this really Zetas was my first thought. According to Border Patrol guys I visit with regularly... it is. I asked about it and they laughed and said it happens more and more every month....

They are coming gentlemen. Of that there is no doubt, they have won the battle in Mexico, Texas is the next battlefield.

What our state governments and the federal government need to do is stop wasting our taxpayer's money on people who don't pull their own weight in life, and instead start giving our LE departments the proper funding so they can have all the most effective gear possible and more than enough manpower to get the job done. That and we should just line the entire border north and south with Phalanx CIWS batteries. ;) LOL

    Somewhere here nor there....
I can tell you this much, if i had a ranch along the border, there wouldnt be any shenanigans going on on my land!! these Ranchers need to come to the realization WE are at war with these ILLEGALS and the CARTELS!! so they must set up and defend their ranches as such!! last time i checked we are aloud to SHOOT thieves, intruders and anyone attempting to harm us on our own land!! but im not to sure of trespassers. so just shoot them and guess what, "I WAS IN FEAR OF MY LIFE"!! some of these ranches are VERY large, so i would assume they could afford a security detail. ive never known a poor man to own a 5000 acre ranch!!

You are going to fire a gun at a group of well-armed, SF trained, ruthless veterans of the Mexico drug war? Somehow this doesn't sound like a winning proposal.

Unfortunately one man isn't going to do shit to these cartels. We need to involve our military in a border protection front, just the same as we did with Pancho Villa.

I've seen what that phalanx can do first-hand. Scary stuff. Posting them along the border isn't a bad idea but don't the cartels have a network of tunnels and such that go underneath?

I agree with Texas 1911, plus it isnt exactly legal to "shoot thieves" (see Tennessee v. Garner). Now if someone is attempting to harm you that is different. But beyond that I dont think many people realize how big some of these ranches are. Just in my county there are ranches that are tens of thousands of acres, south of here are some bigger ones. There is no way for a civilian to totally secure ranches of this size, no matter what they spend. If it were me, I would secure my house and the buildings near my house as much as possible.
It is already commonplace for ranchers to not stray from their house without an AR or AK plus a handgun with them, but as stated, if they encounter Zeta's, their best bet would be a tactical retreat. Many rural LE agencies dont even have the firepower to compete with them.

The story is a fake....I'd suggest an edit - because this thing is going viral and feeding on itself.
I cant testify to the validity of the original story, but I CAN tellyou that Zetas are in Texas and are perpetrating crimes that fly under the press' radar. I am near the front lines in this battle and hear about it every week.
The above burglary that I spoke of was at a ranch of someone that I personally have known for years. I have discussed this topic over lunch with Border Patrol guys who say that when they interview illegals that they are processing, they are commonly told that the Zetas are mixing in with loads of migrant workers and infiltrating the interior of Texas.
We can poo-poo on the original story but that doesnt change the fact that the danger is real and our borders are being breeched everyday by cartels.

If true to get assistance all we need to do is convince the administration it's a group of old white Christians(aka Tea Party) and we would have a large force assembled within minutes.

If any of you know any Rangers or DPS guys that are getting rotated (many are) to augment border security, ask them about their experiences there. A Trooper I know who works in McAllen had told me that felony pursuits are a daily occurance and many of them make a run for the border and escape into Mexico. There is also several notorious exchanges of gunfire between U.S. LEOs and Mexican police/cartel security members, mainly in Arizona, although it has happened on the TX border as well.

Oh, believe me - I've got "plug-ins" on the TX Border - and yeah, the porousity is simply unbelievable. My point was that to repeat untrue stories lessens our validity on the ones that ARE true, but unreported - and there's WAY too many of them. The cartels have begun their media intimidation well into the US, with threats against journalists that if they report a story, they or their family won't survive - and the journalists are running for cover.

It IS bad out there - and it's going to get worse, because the corruption within the Mexican LEO community is so pervasive that it's going to take a bloodbath beyond anything we'd believe to even stand a chance of stopping it.
