Too many to choose from, that's why I have many calibers. It depends on my mood. I would hate to limit myself. I know I shoot .22lr most often, but if I want to shoot for more accuracy a bit further, I prefer .17wsm. If I want to pulverize cement blocks, I'll shoot 7.62 or 300blk, but if I want to shoot with more accuracy, then it's 5.56/.223. I love my 30/30, but for more accuracy further out 22/250, or even further, 6mm CM.
Too many favorites to cover all moods. Can't say I hate shooting any caliber I've shot so far.
I used to reload and hunt with the 25/06. Now that I live in the woods where my shots are rarely over 50 yards, I do most of my hunting with a 30/30 or 7.62x39. Both plenty medicine for deer and hogs…
I have killed more game with a .308 then anything. I have more rifles in 5.56 then .308 only because the swapping of uppers to the M16. I do like the feel of running burst on the G3K, the accuracy of the SSG PII, & the sound of the suppressed O3A3 and then there is my Saco imported H&K 91 that started the love of the .308 & for H&K's.
My favorite caliber when I started hunting, was a Remington Sportsman 78 in .270 cal. Great rifle and very accurate. Stock was very plain but that was ok with me. A few years ago I started using my Winchester 94AE 30-30. I really like my 30-30.
