I was still a teen when dad died, so I'll put "the time I spent with dad" in the #1 spot. I could expand on that for pages but I'll leave it in a short form for this thread.

#2 would be Melinda when I was 16. That story can't be told here; I'd have to ban myself for posting pornographic material.

#1 and #2 were things that lasted over time. For #3, I'll pick something that happened only once and it was over quickly - when the principal of my kindergarten told my parents I was mentally retarded and expelled me from the school. As we walked out, it dawned on me I'd never have to go back into that building again. My parents took me to IHOP and we had pancakes for lunch. Best. School. Day. Ever!!!

#4 would be the first time I saw Heart in concert. I've probably seen them in concert 20 times but the first time is still, in my memory, the best.

lol....you just followed a different Drummer which the principal was not acquainted with. That was enough to get you a label. I remember when I first started school. For several weeks I would throw my school books away on the way home. luckily somebody who knew me would collect them up and call my Mom. She would make me walk to get them. lol

I had a hound dog named Freckles.
We roamed the countryside on foot and paw. He proved I sucked at hide and seek. I learned that an animal can be a better companion than most humans.

He got ran over at a pretty young age.
I reckon I was pretty young too.
Nonetheless, he made a lasting impression on me.
Kinda like a scar that never fades.

Yeah, Freckles was one of my favorite things from my youth.
We lived near our grandparents who had two Boxers that followed us everywhere we went in the country. Plus one of thier pups named Mike. He was in a large fenced in area. It depended on how he felt that day if he wanted to stay fenced in...lol. I remember one day when Grandma pulled a switch to give us a spanking. Woodrow the male of the pair walked over to my grandma and gently removed the switch from her hand..

Oh. That meant cutting calves. Harvesting wheat.
    Hoeing cotton.
School was a vacation for me.

AMEN. That's how I grew up. School was my vacation. Summer AND weekends were all work all the time. BUT had good times shooting coyotes, jack rabbits, crows and rattlesnakes from the tractor a lot and in season hunting pheasant, geese and quail.

:) For me it was 5th grade (skipped Kinder). Teacher was getting fed up with my hand always raised, waiting to be called on so I could correct her work on the board during math. One day she had it with me and asked if I wanted to come up and teach. I miss a lot of cues, so I thought it was a genuine question. Guess not. That day led to many subsequent Principal's office visits, my "No BS" Mom getting into some heated discussions, and ultimately a meeting with the school board to decide my fate. Long story short, I was expelled from the math/science 'gifted' school and lost my ability to go next door to the early morning middle school advanced math class. The choice was made to enroll in my regular neighborhood elementary school. Perhaps not ironically, they actually offered better education.

My bicycle! I rode that blue Schwinn 3 speed racer everywhere. If my parents knew how far away I rode that Schwinn into Chicago, I'd still be in lockdown! That bike was my freedom and I loved it.

    Flash

 Yeah, I remember doing that too. Getting on a bike and just seeing how far we could go.
