I tore down the transfer case and inspected it. Bearings and shafts all looked good. The only damage I could find besides the pin hole worn in the back case by the oil pump was a damaged range shift fork pad. So I ordered a replacement case, pad and new seals and put it back together with the new updated oil pump housing and reinstalled it back in the truck along with a support brace.

Then I did a 4 wheel brake job, rotors and pads. Replaced a faulty air bag impact sensor. Then I replaced all the glow plugs. Next on the list, I will be removing the leaking steering gear box and replacing it with a rebuilt unit. Also going to replace the idler and tie rods while I'm at it.

Replacing the oil pump housing with an aftermarket housing that will correct the pump rub issue

Back in the truck. Installed a support brace as well.

    Yup, likely the same thing.

It gets an even transfer layer of pad material onto the rotors.

An uneven layer of transfer material (also called uneven wear) is generally the cause of warping and/or measured runout...not actual distortion of the rotor itself.

That's how they describe the break in process. "Even layer of material...."

    So yeah.

All done now too. Install and break in.

Stops smooth again and a high speed vibration is gone. Hopefully it lasts.

I just lubed all 4 of the zerk fittings on my truck’s front end.
Two factory, two for aftermarket control arms.

Was really surprised that’s all there is on a 1500 Silverado.
The 3/4 ton and up trucks have something like a dozen zerk fittings.

Serviced the transmission a few months back. New rotors all installed.

Rear end gasket was leaking so went ahead and resealed it and filled with new gear oil. New fluid in the transfer case too.

Like a brand new truck now. Even washed it.

    Clean trucks run better

Took the wife’s car to San Antonio...it’ll soon be my beater/commuter car, she gets a new car next month.

Have some brake pulsing...rears are new, looks like new front pads/rotors are in order.

But christ, the inside of this car (and historically, all of her cars) is filthy. Literally trash everywhere. We don’t live like this, I don’t understand...

My wife's vehicles are the same.

House is kept clean and tidy. Open the vehicle door and trash flies out.

    Don't get it.

And the damn coins in every possible holder! Daughter started a collection to turn in the other day. $82 worth from the vehicles, wife's purse, and a few bowls around the house.

Figured I added 50 hp with new fluids and a wash......

Same here. I keep the outside clean, bright, and shiny, but Lordy, the interior. Windows and windshield smudged, grocery bags, straw wrappers, towelettes, leaves, candy wrappers, gravel, receipts, fast food bags, other miscellany.

I cleaned up the interior once, but in a week it was back like it was. I give up. But the house is spotless, so I don't complain about her car. (To her).

Wife's car is usually clean, but when I wash cars I vacuum and clean out the interior too. Kids don't regularly eat in the car, track in mud, etc. so it actually stays decent. The cupholders usually have a wad of receipts in 'em though ;)
