If Fl. or Sc. goes blue, what does the south look like. Fl is on the edge. Va. is very purple. Nc. was there not to long ago. If the south is lost; this country is done

Florida goes back and forth due to the large Latino population and the snowbirds that have moved south. In the long term I believe with California and other states of their ilk filing for bankruptcy a lot is going to change in state dynamics. I think for the good as far as Texas is concerned.

Neither SC nor Texas is going blue anytime soon. Florida already goes back and forth.
Texas is far more blue than most think: Travis-Austin, Harris-Houston, Dallas-Dallas, Bexar-San Antonio, El Paso-El Paso along with the Rio Grande counties all are solid BLUE. What keeps Texas Red is the rural vote and we have a lot of rural counties. BUT, Get a few Dims in key places that can affect the voting districts by redrawing and you could see Texas go blue in a heartbeat.

Clarke, you know how I feel about this man. I still stand by my statement that Texas should stand on its own. If there are a few states that want to come with us, fine, if not......fine too.

i never thought Sc was in play; but hey... when you think about it, isnt everything up for grabs.

@Texan2 dont believe it for a minute, that we have time to "waste". Co fell pretty easy. Tx wont be as easy; but there is big money to get it done

Urban Dallas is "blue" but the surrounding suburbs and neighboring counties out populate Dallas proper and are very much red.

What keeps Texas "red" is that our rural voters, well, vote. A lot of other states complain that their urban centers overwhelm the rest of the state, but voter turnout in rural areas are low. The residents don't contribute to campaigns and are often overlooked because of it.

Remember always, the future belongs to those that show up. Sitting out an election is just as good as handing a free vote to the other side.

That is so true. Not voting for the candidate of your party, because you may not like all he or she stands for is in fact voting for the other candidate

A lot of people are refusing to vote for shit candidates like Romney because that is the only way we will ever get a decent candidate.

Romney was nothing more than a right leaning Democrat. Better than Obama but that's not much of a compliment. If we keep voting for the guy that is "better than a progressive liberal" we will get more and more left leaning candidates.

It is a shitty situation all around but we will never see a Ted Cruz type candidate for the WH if we support the Romneys and mcCains.

Yup, this is how Hillary will get in.

Yup, this is how Hillary will get in.

That is where the debate comes in to play.

Are those refusing to vote for the empty suites going to cause the country to go to crap, or are those who will vote for an empty suite just letting it go to crap at a slower pace instead of trying to fix the problem?

It won't matter if Hillary goes to the WH if the choices are Hillary Vs anti freedom "conservatives".

Hell, many worship Bush and he was just as happy to sign the Patriot Act along with a couple other freedom killing bills. Even took the time to give it a misleading name. That act was no more patriotic than the ACA is affordable.

So what is the correct answer; band together and vote for a turd that doesn't smell as bad, or band together a vote for a candidate like Cruz?

Some cry for freedom but then cry when a candidate advocates freedom across the board. How dare homosexuals have freedom, right.....and lets not forget those damned pot heads.

Anyways, I've gone off on a rant now. But the original question is still there. Should we choose to fix the country, it slow it's death with more Romneys and mcCains? How bout if Christy gets the nod, can you squeeze your nose tight enough to give him a vote?

It's not an either or proposition. We can support and start promoting the Ted Cruz's while blocking another Obama/Hillary by taking what we can get.

It's the Republican faithful who primary in the McCain's and Romney's and then they stay home because that candidate is not good enough.

It doesn't make sense to complain about how horrible Obama is and then turn around and say you can't vote in a Romney even though you acknowledge he wouldn't have been as bad.
