Booting Johnson is a HUGE risk for marginal gains at best. There is a REAL chance that if Johnson is removed the dems and a few leftish RINOs will be able to install a leftist.

Johnson isnt perfect, but what could have been done differently had someone "better" been there instead?

It's not worth going all-in with a shitty hand, especially if the other players can see all your cards
Yeah, the thought of Speaker Jeffries keeps me up at night. They got close that last time...

Then we should get them to choose Brandon Herrera.
First order of business, turn the ATF into a records, ballistics analyzing branch only. No arrest, or law making.
Second, mandatory firearm training in all schools.
Third, require 100% of the population to serve a min. 1 year in the military.
Fourth, forbid foreign arms manufacturers from supplying weapons to our military, whether they open plants here, or not.
(the Beretta was a joke, and the new Sig weapons will get people killed.)
I could go on, but the day isn't long enough
    1. ATF shouldn’t exist in any form.

    2. No.

    3. Are you a subject or a citizen? I’d rather be a free citizen.

Keep the status quo till after the election. The election should be our main priority. Nothing worthwhile is going to pass unless we win the election. This as an unnecessary distraction. No fan of Johnson, but damn, we need to get our priorities straight.....
Must agree, as distasteful as keeping him is right now is a very bad time.

    What?

having a speaker who does the democrat‘s bidding is a distraction?

    he
    - supported warrant-less spying on Americans
    - sent billions to foreign governments and NONE to secure the border
    - supported largest spending omnibus ever

he’s not a distraction… he’s a reason we could lose The House and win the Oval Office…. people are fed up with republicans like him

Totally disagree that the speaker fight should be a priority right now. We can kick his ass to the curb when we get a real majority. We will if we focus on the real prize, the WH and the down ballot votes......

Conservatives don't have the damn votes to get a real conservative as Speaker, period. Otherwise Jordan would be there instead of Johnson..

    just being realistic...........

Except "we" (conservatives) dont get to just pick who we want and declare them the SOTH... the danger is a unified left with a few RINOs would put someone in MUCH worse.

Kinda the achy old bullet near your spine. You don't like it there and having it gone would (might, I really am not too dissatisfied with him) be nicer, but there is a 20% chance of dying or being paralyzed... The risk:reward is the wrong way around "High:minimal"

That’s a load of BS. Nothing more than scare tactics to keep the uniparty in charge. We have the same Congress that voted in both Johnson and McCarthy. If the whole threat is that they’ll give us something worse then they all need to go. Until then, we should be shaking things up and expecting results.Johnson isn’t getting the job done.

There is nothing that Congress will be missing out on by replacing him with someone better.

You maybe ought to go back and check how many votes it took to get McCarthy, and then how many to get Johnson. It makes for risky business.

Johnson isn’t getting the job done.
That part is true. But if you want to replace him, you better have someone lined up that will get full R support AND not be a RINO. They had a very hard time finding someone that would meet even the first part last time.

Gentlemen I agree, he is a RINO, but we do not have the votes for someone better, period, Complaining and wishing we did........ does not change that fact.

Is MTG keeping his feet to the fire and is trying to keep him honest. I fully support her on that. But another failed Speaker vote and infighting will not help us win the election.

    FAFO comes into play here.

    Lets not FAFO...........

Sure. Kick Johnson out. Then spend the next year in a fight trying to get someone else elected to the SOTH with a razor thin majority. And then probably end up with someone else you don't like.

And we ended up with McCarthy in the first place after so many votes because weak republicans were more concerned about how bad it looked to people who will never vote for consevstives anyway. This constant caving to the left/uniparty is how we end up in this constant state of disappointment. If the best republicans can do is replacing the old shithead with the new shithead, then what’s the point of having the majority? People are getting fed up with excuse after excuse of why things like this make sense when they don’t. Things will never improve, or even stop declining with this thought process.

what exactly is going to be held by replacing Johnson that you want passed, that the current senate and potato will agree on? Spending a year replacing Johnson would be perfectly fine. Maybe then people would finally wake up to the fact that reelecting RINOs is not working for them. If the best we can get from republicans is making a lot of noise before passing bills that would make pelosi proud, then there is no point in voting.

Doubling down on poor choices isn't "shaking things up", its how we loose the Speakership altogether.

We had a weak majority because we stopped viewing our elected officials as tools the Republicans shrunk their own narrow majority by kicking out Santos, who was probably a scumbag, but he served the purpose of his electorate and booted conservatively.

We have a 5 vote "majority" on paper. There was a real worry that the dems would stage a coup and try to hold a vote while Republicans were out to lunch or the restroom and get a leftist installed... its an election year and Republicans need to be able to leave the chamber and work to get elected otherwise we won't have any majority.

When you look at the number of votes it took to get this conservative god-send, it it proof we neither have the numbers or conservative votes to get something better. Wait until after the election and we have a stronger majority.

so your whole plan hangs on the hope that there will be some red wave in November? Would you like to list some of the examples of the great things that were accomplished in 2017-18 with the solid Republican majority and the great house speaker they voted in?

Your strategy isn’t working. It’s time to stop making excuses and expect them to do their jobs. The enthusiasm that exists for doing nothing in the Republican Party needs to come to an end.
