Before I retired I made regular trips to Japan. I quickly learned I could go into a bar in any large Japanese city, sketch an outline of Texas on a napkin, and within 5 minutes a Japanese customer would point at it and exclaim, "Texas!" In another 5 minutes I was surrounded by half a dozen Japanese, wanting to talk about Texas--and willing to keep buying me drinks to keep me talking. Texas is legendary in Japan.
