Uh, don’t forget that we had prohibition in the 1920s. It was passed as an Amendment and nobody did anything for a long time besides go underground. I think Americans in general tend to be non-confrontational since the the Civil War.

Exactly. In general Conservative Christian Americans want to be non-confrontational. ANTIFA? Nope. BLM? Nope. Democrats have a long history of violence, hatred, and racism. Thru the years, most Americans have accepted it and put up with it. Some welcome it so we can all get along. It has been detrimental to the Republic. It's like a person getting extremely obese over 20-30 years and then they are going to lose it all. It CAN be done but few have the commitment to do it because the work is too great.

First and foremost is your key phrase"appease the left". Your naivete and lack of understanding of the "left's" motivation and position is what leads me to suggest that you do a lot of research into the socialist, communist history around the world. You need to read the Federalist Papers and the writings of Jefferson, Hamilton, Washington on possession of firearms by the population. You need to read Hitler's Mein Kampf, Mao Z Dung, Lenin, Stalin on firearms ownership by the citizens of their time. You need to research the history of what a militia was in the mid 1700's. When you have educated yourself and understand the history and political motivations of the "left" You will understand there is no "appeasement" of that political mentality. The only thing that the "left" will accept in appeasement is total disarmament of the American citizenry., Repealing the Second Amendment and placing the American population under total government control..

Ok, all those that are against it, what are they gonna do?? The right (not to be confused with conservatives) is losing ground AND the left will eventually take over and make radical changes, duh not for the good. We agree on that.

Would be nice if we had that kind of NRA the Left is always gibbering about....

Au contrare, mon frere. Until you what concessions they’re willing to make, there is no point in negotiating.

Tell me just one equivalent concession to a constitutional right that the enemy is willing to put on the table.

They clamor for compromise, when in reality it’s acquiescence they want.

In short, they are trying to be a bully. Yet they lecture bullying is bad.

That's why the argument isn't really about guns, or even public safety. It's about trying to shame us for believing in what we know is right, then hoping we stay home on election night while they advance the progressive agenda. Watching the Cruz-Milano bout, it's clear they don't care about our concerns about the various ideas for gun control, and we're monsters for not just voting for AWB, UBC, red flag, etc to see if they might save one life. Not like that could be proven anyway.

I think we need to turn the shame around. I don't know how to do that yet. But rather than worry about conversations or negotiations, we need to do the work of showing up to rallies, getting pro gun people to the polls, and getting state reps to file pro gun bills at the next lege. And the next lege after that, and the one after that....

Good luck with that. Hard to shame the shameless. Hard to affect the thinking of politicians who care not one bit for your concerns. That is why we are here because good people like yourself have tried these things in the past........to no avail (mostly).

Name one thing we've gotten out of the NFA and GCA? Just ONE THING.
Government was able to create new sources of income, and new job opportunities? You would probably have to be a collectivist to think those things were good though...
