Quite the story! It's strange and wonderful how they come into our lives and choose us lol, and we're always better for it - whether we realize it at the time or not. At least it seems so to me. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your new family member! He's a beauty..... That's all okay, I love him enough so that I'll buy a couple less guns a year and that my friends must be true love!
Pets can't control who owns them. My guess the dog & the homeless share what they get.My wife found a large dog near the bayou, hair matted down, probably some renter moved out and left it. Happens a lot. Anyway she went to the store and bought dog food, got some water and fed it. She located a deputy and told him about the dog. He said he would call a friend, wife couldn't bring it home. No one showed up so she took it on a leash to local volunteer firehouse. Left it there with more food. My wife will buy food for a dog even if the dog belongs to a homeless person under a bridge.
Last year my greyhounds caught a young rabbit and brought it thru the dog door. As it wasn't harmed I took it back outside and released it.Looking outside I see a squirrel and mentioned it to Renfield who goes out. As usual he goes the wrong way, but spots a rabbit and runs it down and caught it. The rabbit looked stiff as he comes carrying back. At first I thought it was dead but it’s alive playing dead. Seeing as it’s alive I have him drop it. He’s licking on it sniffing and taking a few bites at it. As I try to get to the phone camera to take a picture. Well that rabbit sees it chance and hauled ass under the fence.
Renfield is one of the only dogs that I have ever had that didn’t tear apart his stuffed toys. Watching a dog do it is straight up stripping a kill down to get to the meat.Last year my greyhounds caught a young rabbit and brought it thru the door. As it wasn't harmed I took it back outside and released it.
