In my old neighborhood people down the street bought their house because it had a 50’s bomb shelter. They spent lots of time pumping it out.

Depending upon the price of concrete, it's hard to beat reinforced concrete for underground bunkers. Done correctly it will last a lifetime or more.

I haven't priced concrete in some years, but like many other things, concrete prices always fluctuate.

Here in our county, (Anderson) we had four concrete plants, and now, there are none. Closest concrete plant if well over fifty miles away. The mileage costs would make concrete pretty expensive for me.
