454 Casull ammo is reasonably priced for the Hornady Custom rounds. They can usually be found (online, at least) for about $25 per box of 20. That's not a lot of dough for such a powerful pistol round. A lot of recoil of course; I shoot 'em out of a five-pound Raging Judge Magnum and they have substantial recoil. I would guess that the kick will be a lot more to wrestle from the short-barreled Alaskan, as it is a pound and a half lighter.

Oh....my bad. They do have .454 Casull at Cabelas though. And long colt.

I hear you. I wanted a Dan Wesson Alaskan in 445 supermag. Could never find one. Even have the dies for it. (bought them from a guy with a T/C contender)
