I raced with NASA for 10 years and have instructed with Texas Driving Experience, NASA, The Drivers Edge and Acme.
I've worked grid for the Vette club of Dallas and worked corners with SCCA and NASA at TMS, MSR-C, MSR-H, TWS, ECR and H2.

I crew chiefed a CMC Camaro to two class and one overall endurance race wins at TWS under NASA.
That's right, a big ole V8 Camaro out gas mileaged a gaggle of MER Miatas.
And I chiefed the same Camaro to a National Championship at Mid-Ohio.

I also crewed on Lou Gigliotti's C5 and C6 World Challenge Vettes.

Finally I won two regional NASA CMC championships behind the wheel.

Am I supposed to be impressed? Obama has a similarly impressive list of credentials but that doesn't make him qualified to run a country. What does your experience have to do with anything?

I agree. Even if there were contact, it would still be a bullshit call. It was a race for a WIN on the last lap of a 24hr race. It would NOT have been avoidable. You can't expect a driver to simply yield a 24hr win like that...

But you should probably ask mitch what he thinks. He worked more corners than me.

I'm not accusing you of back-seat driving, just not having a full appreciation of what goes into the behind the scenes working of a race.

A "taking too long" without knowing exactly what was going on is where you and I disagree.
You weren't there and neither was I.

But as a corner worker, I would hope you would give benefit of the doubt instead of condemning the whole crew.
I hope you never need them.
