Hey folks what are rcbs cowboy dies?! I’m looking for 45-70 dies that I can afford. Found some used ones but they say rcbs cowboy. Is that just the seating stem that’s for like a round nose or a swc? This is for bolt action. In my case.

I doubt it will make any difference.
Do you know what your bore Dia. is?
Because THAT will make a huge difference is accuracy.

I load .45-70 & .45-90 with standard dies, and use bullets cast at. 460 and sized at .459. I don't have any problem loading/seating bullets. If the "cowboy dies" have a larger expander, I wouldn't know why. Seems like over working the mouth of the brass for no reason.

I use the Cowboy Dies in 38-55...a real boon!

They are designed with cast bullets in mind, and come with two expanders, one for jacketed (.458" bullets, and the other for cast .460")

    You will like them.

They will not do H'Day brass as H'Day brass is .060" shorter than standard.

    Hope this helps.
