According to a news story (iow, yet another untrustworthy source but we look at what we can see, right?) the man was drunk and didn't realize the kid was a kid. He thought it was a mannequin. He was trying to commit a little recreational destruction of property.

Not an excuse. He deserved a more severe beatdown than he got, imo.

That does change the story just a tiny bit... but I agree... he deserved way worse than he got.... might learn to stay home if he's gonna get drunk.

I just have a tendency to go medieval over someone abusing a child....
