Maverick 88 with Slugs and Magnum Cartidges

I took the initiative, called Mossberg and discussed the issue that we were kicking around at some length. Then, our member discounts that "from the horse's mouth" information. Sigh..........

It reminds me of the time when the Oklahoma State Dept Of Vocational Education asked me to work with instructors from the Middle East. I learned real quickly that in their countries, once they became instructors, they were acknowledged to know ALL about their areas of expertise. Teaching trades that change and develop almost daily, they refused to read, learn or accept anything new. WTH!

I know there is no warning but as cheaply (sorta like a hipoint) I have no desire to push it. Safety First you know. Since when is someone bashed on this forum for their personal thoughts, Is this obama owned??? LOL

You aren't advocating safety, you are advocating over-cautiousness. If the 88 couldn't handle certain ammo then they damn sure wouldn't be telling people to go ahead and do it anyway.

I've run all of the above though my Maverick 88. Often. No problems. Slugs. High brass 3" buckshot. With 18, 22, and 28 inch barrels. No problems. Works perfectly.

Frank, it is perfectly safe to shoot slugs or buckshot through an 88.
