    See what I mean about the handguard? Ugh. New pistol grip, handguard, foregrip and correct muzzle device will be here on Tuesday. I really like the Krinkenstein one that's on there now, so the original one will probably go into the parts tote.

    That 'Krink' booster is probably the last thing it needs, it has the short AMD-65 gas system and a full 16" barrel.
    I'm still amazed at the variations in AKs available today, 30 years ago there were only 4 basic variations:
    1. Chinese AKs of various patterns.
    2. Egyptian AKMs, which were essentially Soviet AKMs.
    3. Hungarian AKM (fixed) and AKMS (under-folding stock) variants, which aren't as 'pure' Soviet pattern as the Egyptian guns but generally considered better quality.
    4. Yugoslavian 'AKs' which are bastards to the point that only the magazine interchanges.
    I had a lot of Chinese and Egyptian guns - they were cheap - but I longed for a Hungarian!
