This little gem is a KSI wood stocked Paratrooper without the "no-where rail". They are kinds scarce in wood with no rail and the wood units have the cleanest front sight base neuter job, no bayo lugs or rod guides, very clean. This particular rifle came with an importer installed Capco recoil pad and NSTAR muzzle brake. At least that's the way I got it and the fella in front of me said he bought it like that. Maybe LGS installed? Additionally, it's an all-matching arsenal /26\ short lug pot belly stock with the blade bayo slot filled in. Appears original as the crappy finish is evenly crappy over the slot inlet. I added the Romy sling, which looks pretty sweet on it. This is my favorite Para next to a Cowboy Companion I've got. Doesn't seem to have been run much, good sear engagement and everything's tight. Some picts you have to bow up to see the details. PAX

That’s a none oem brake. The Chinese sks import market as with norinco items are becoming collector items but truly the rarest Chinese sks was the none commercial with bayonet and 20 round box mag.

I know people love the Russian sks’s but for me the holy grail will always be an excellent condition Albanian.

Chinese commercial or none commercial have always been priced around yugo values. More if it takes ak mags.

    There's 3 Albys, 2 Russians, 2 Romys, 2 Yugos (M59 & M59/66), 23 Chinese (blade & spike) and spike & blade Paratroopers in this heap. PAX

That is an outstanding SKS collection. At one point, I had 10 of them. Just decided to make room for other stuff. Still have 4 though and I still snap them up if I find a deal. Pretty rare these days though.

At one time before the Chinese ban you could custom order an SKS from certain importers set up many different ways. I have 2 blade Paratroopers from BTC that are on pinned barrels with blade cut slots in the stocks. A pinned barrel rifle would have come with a spike. This link shows some importer modified guns in poly Monte Carlo furniture (ATI/Combat Exchange) with scopes and brakes installed by the importer as ordered by the end user. http://chinesesks.weebly.com/commercial.html

Thanks, took a while to put together. There are occasionally deals but they're few and far between these days. PAX

The stock bayo mod must have been done at the start of the ban wars. I have a spiker stock that's filled in too. Later the importers quit messing with the wood like that and just left the bayo slot be. I've got another KSI Para that had the rail, but mine was screwed on. I removed it and fabbed it to fit a T89 mount, then when I picked up a scopeless Cowboy Companion I took the T89 off the KSI, put it on the CC. I found a K-Sport branded Butler Creek, put Allen screws in the KSI rail holes and cloned a Parka Para of sorts. Turned out pretty cool. PAX

Looks like a good way to make it a useful ranch rifle. I'm sure the short barrel, missing bayonet and plastic stock shaved off a couple of pounds.

When my $80 SKS’s became worth $400 I sold all of them off but 1. Great rifles.
I've moved 13 SKS rifles over the last few years, 1 last December was pretty beat went for $450 the rest were $500-$650 with a rough Albanian going for $800. PAX

I bought a Chinese SKS a few years ago for I believe $300 and it had a bad gas tube. Bought a new Russian one on gunbroker from a guy in Ukraine. Bought a spare too as seem pretty hard to find. Great rifle. Just keep the firing pin clean.

Even when a unissued Chinese could be had for 150 the Albanians held high value.
My first SKS was a Chinese, $70 bucks.

It was cheap because it was a single shot. The gas piston was froze in the tube, The tube was galled so I cleaned the piston and got another tube. That was what sent me down the SKS parts rabbit hole.

arsenal 26 SKSes are fairly common from what ive seen
a truly uncommon SKS would be something like an albanian, east german, or a vietnamese one.

Is that your collection? If so, my compliments on some mighty fine collecting!
Thank you took a couple decades to acquire,

Here's one of my 2 remaining Albys, a'70, on the bottom rack. Just above it is an arsenal /606\ SARCO barreled receiver I built in a phenolic stock with all scrubbed metal bits. I put together 6 parts built SKS rifles over the years. The last 2 had matching mags & TGs, but the matching bolt carriers & bolts didn't match the rest. PAX
