After reading the criteria for licensing private firearms in Israel I think it would be easier in a 'may-issue' location such as New York City or LA to compare countries. I can understand the requirement to be a citizen and proficiency in Hebrew but all the rest makes it really tough. And then one is limited in number of firearms and ammo.
Often I have read about Israeli self-defense measures but didn't realize it was so limited to just a few 'good guys/gals' and government blessing.
