Is the primer on a 12 gauge shell any larger than that on a 20 gauge?

I have a 12 gauge pump shotgun and am using spent shells for snap caps. I knocked out the primers from the inside and plugged the hole with a spent .22 casing. After a dryfire, I switch out the newly-dented casing for another spent one.

I am wondering if this would work in a 20 gauge also.

    Don't worry; no reloading involved.

A Zoom has aluminum snap caps for about $10 per pair. They'll last till you lose 'em.

And the primers on 12, 16, 20, 28 gauges are all zackly the same.

I know they're cheap; there's just a certain satisfaction about making your own. I know I took a trigger pack apart that worked and changed out springs for ones I had collected just because I could; the old ones worked fine. It just felt neat to be able to.

I don't know; it probably sounds really wierd.

Thanks for the help. I may end up doing that, but Charles' idea about an eraser seems to work great for now. Thanks!
