Probably a reaction to the Fed's emergency meeting. Hasn't really been a huge move, tho... less than 1%. At least so far.
Kitco is showing it as a 8.4% increase, but yeah, that can't be right.

Decimal in the wrong place? I was looking at a different chart earlier where it had gone from $1855 this morning to $1870... a 0.8% increase.

Right now Kitco is saying +0.78%

It certainly is real. Find a good deal on precious metal with no shipping fee and then no tax makes for some pretty good deals here in TX.
Ive bought silver from JM bullion but I cant remember if I paid tax. I gotta go check the receipt

    Silver...let's call it $24/oz.

    1980 - it was $16

    Hmm....50% increase in 42 years

    Helluva deal.

Lots of other things I can think of with a LOT higher rate of return.....but, do what makes ya feel good.

Thanks, added that one to the list of places I'll keep an eye on. IMO you really need to shop around for the lowest premiums. APMEX like mentioned earlier in the thread usually has some of the highest premiums...
I think I've purchased more from Provident than any of the other big companies. They're in the Dallas area. I always compare at least four companies before buying.

I think I will be making a sizable purchase of bullion in the future - up to about 18 % of my current cash; however, that will have to wait until I work up the courage to spend that much of my cash and buy at the market's prices at whatever time.
Set up your accounts at the big companies, make some $100 to $200 purchases (the minimum for free shipping, last I looked), and get approved for e checks. Then make big buys when you're ready.

Manipulated totally. Silver should be 500 to 1000.
Currently, more like about $100... 20-1 ratio like U.S. coinage used to be.

"From the crustal abundance of precious metals, we can also see that the gold-to-silver ratio in the earth’s crust is about 1:19. This means that there is roughly 19 times more silver than gold in the ground."

"freeze truckers' personal and corporate bank accounts"

This will be a thing here shortly once the dollar is gone. Ludicrous

Also of course no tax on precious metal purchases here in TX.
That, in my understanding is not necessarily correct. While there is no state sales tax on gold, silver or platinum, there is a Texas state sales tax on palladium and copper (source - paragraph 2). Palladium is definitely a precious metal, it is at a bid price of $2,162.00 as I write. In fact it is another one I am truly sad I never purchased a few years back. Whenever there are high world tensions, especially when Russia is pissed off at the world, Palladium & Rhodium will be way up. They are mined only in a few areas - Russia being one of them.
