LOL, sorry. I couldn't help it. I had one of those kind before. She turned out to be an awesome dog and smart as a whip to. She would hunt anything. She wound up with the name Puppy. LOL. Still makes me laugh right now to think of sitting right here in the mornings eating breakfast and suddenly there she would be bouncing up and down on the back porch and you could just see her for a second looking in the back door window. Bouncing up and down. I'd always go out and give her and Squirt the scraps and bread crusts off our breakfast plates. They would both sit there waiting and I'd cut up the crusts to flip them off the plate one at a time to each dog in turn. Over and over each one would catch a piece and sit back down while the other caught their piece. Loved those dogs. Puppy was the smarter of the two.

2-3 weeks ago I made the mistake of feeding a stray dog that came onto the property where I hunt. She immediately imprinted on me and wouldn't leave me alone. She would follow me to the stand and ruin all my deer hunts. I'd chase her off but she'd just run 50 yards and wait in the brush to walk back later. I tried leading her away but she found her way back. I'm not an *******, I'm not gonna shoot her.
I'm hoping that she's gone already since last time. But if she's not, what could I do?
The nearest town is about 30-45 minutes away

I know! Take her home and make her part of the family.

Thanks for this thread. It made me go back and look at a few old pictures. This is my daughter passing out "bread treats" to Curly Puppy Little Dog and Squirt.

That little dog showed up starving and I actually think she ate some mouse poison. I figured her for a neighbor dog and didn't want to feed her so she would go home. After I saw what I thought she'd been eating I figured anyone who wanted to be here that bad could stay. One of my better moves. I started calling her Curly because of her tail. Wife called her little dog and the kids called her puppy. Thus she wound up with a full name Curly Puppy Little Dog aka Puppy. Squirt peed on the vet first time he visited there. LOL

One of my current best dogs is a stray. I saw him tearing up a trash bag at the neighborhood park so I picked him up and asked some neighbors if it was there's. everyone said no so 8 years later...
He was only a few months old at the time

Yup. A little bony pit mix. 38 pounds when I got her. About 6 months old. Not a single sound out of her for 3 days. Got her home and she spent all of 10 minutes exploring the place, carefully got one, and only one, small scrap of leather out of a bin on the floor and laid down to chew it. She was home. Named her Bait. And she is pure bait. Women, kids, men. Even kittens like her and want to play. Loves to chase bubbles from a bubble gun.

Sounds like the dog in the OP has chosen who she wants. You don't choose the dog, the choose you. The only question is, do you accept the gifts it chooses to give.

    That place east of Waco....
If you decide to kerp her, get a wireless "invisible fence" system. It's worked great for our dogs. Only downside is that you have to change the battery in the collar every month or two....but an Amazon subscription for the battery is a cheap and helpful reminder.

The little ones like to bark and don't run off!
