I don't shoot a lot of rimfire these days but that has changed. I picked up a new Browning 1911 22 A1 last week. I couldn't resist. I'm in the process of breaking in the trigger now but so far the gun has functioned well. I've had one feeding issue with the magazine in the first 30 rounds. After that I put another 100 rounds through it without any issues. Take down for cleaning is exactly like a full size 1911.

    Just for fun...

    Thanks for the report.

I've looked at them a couple times at the LGS, but the $499 asking price hasn't made me jump.... yet.

An admission...I really wanted the new Ruger SP101 8-shot .22LR but they are hard to find. The Browning was a pleasant surprise both in fit and function, and shoot-ability.

It's the nature of the rimmed .22LR cartridge but the way they stack up in the magazine does not instill confidence. I first tested it with snap caps to see how it would feed. It worked better after I cleaned it really well. Initially I used Gun Scrubber on the magazine internals followed by RemOil DryLube. That really smoothed the magazine.

I shoot at Bass Pro Shop here in SA. If you're in the neighborhood and would to try it out just give me a shout.

Lobo, thanks for the generous offer, but I am just a few miles south of Oklahoma, so San Antonio is a bit far for me.

And I bought a Colt 1911 in 22LR ... it is an amazing shooter.

It has the weight and feel of a 1911 and the expectation of a 45 round going off when the hammer drops is a strange sensation when about 1/2 that takes place.

    Thanks for the report.

I saw one at the SAXET Gun Show earlier this month.

It was a beautiful piece of machinery.

I never saw a M-1911 scaled down like that, but accurate in every detail.

The price tag for a rim-fire pistol shocked me, so I passed and bought a "Fully Loaded" Springer Range Officer instead.

I'll collect my pennies for that Browning should I run across one again.

What .22 ammo does it digest best?
