Wingman is the first qualification a fighter pilot earns. The flight lead is responsible for them, because the wingman can’t fly by himself, he’s got to be in a formation with at least one flight lead.

They’re notorious for getting lost, doing tactically unsound things, and being generally unable to fart without shitting their pants.
