Sorry, but not too. It fit me just right, and the fact it's purty was a bonus. Not lefty friendly .
Boo!
I don't know, a good indicator also, is price drop in ammo. The .17 wsm has been dropping since it's inception. I have heard many accounts of people favoring the .17 wsm for over 100 yards, and with the heavy barrels now the accuracy issue seems to be solved. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do, some of the videos I saw is impressive. You choose wisely.
I have a gorgeous and sweet shooting Remington 504 in in .17 Hornady Mach 2. (Necked down 22lr)
Rifles are rare and ammo is darn hard to find.
I fear the 17 WSM might suffer a similar fate as an increasingly uncommon round.
The shooting/buying public votes with the cash, Visa and AMEX.
Cheaper than Dirt has for sale:
2 rifles in 17 HM2
6 rifles in 17 WSM
48 fifles in 17 HMR
Arguably, market share favors the superior product, by no accident.
The buying shooters are voting decisively.
The 17 HMR seems to be in the sweet spot in the lineup.
Shoot it and report back.
Hopefully I'll have it by next weekend. If 17WSM prices are inline with .17HMR prices I may have to consider picking one up.
Especially since my wife has called me out for forgetting that the HMR is her rifle, lol.
But I want that range report.

I've never bought from Gunbuyer before, so I'm not sure how fast they are. The reviews on them are pretty good though.I’ll check back at 5am Saturday morning.

Sure looks like it. A real one too.Is the bipod an Atlas? I'm wanting one!
Yes. Careful though, you may not want to use anything else.Is the bipod an Atlas? I'm wanting one!
Yes, I was using American Eagle 20grn. As far as I know there is only 3 manufacturers of .17wsm.Which ammo? The one I had did best with American Eagle 20grn.

They have a couple videos at 500 yards, of course you have to allow for drop, but it can be done. I'd be happy to get fair groups at 200 yards. I'd have to have a pretty powerful scope just to see out 500 yards, but then I wouldn't want to waste my ammo just to say I've done it.I had a guy at the range one day tell me he could hit the 2" plate at 500 yds every time with his 17??. I smiled and walked off.
Like I said, I at first was looking into buying the HMR and then the WSM caught my eye. I had to filter out the older videos and reviews, the thinner, lighter barrels had issues, so of course there was a lot of negative reviews back then. Most the negative reviews on the newer heavy barrels is the bolt. I use my thumb and palm to move the bolt forward, so I didn't seem to have much issue as many claimed. I'm not going to claim I'm a great shot, I'm not near as steady and my eyes aren't near as good as when I was younger, but you would have known by the smile on my face what I thought about the Savage B Mag after I got it sighted in. That is one fast rimfire.I looked at a few reviews and one that really tested the WSM against the HMR using two Bmags.
Thought it was pretty interesting. The HMR posted smaller groups in fair conditions at 100 yards. But one the wind picked up and the ranged for pushed out to 200-300 yards the WSM was getting far more hits. Seems like unless you have superhuman powers of reading the wind the WSMs ability to handle the elements far outweighs the HMRs initial edge in accuracy.
Want one.
