Please, since you seem to do quite a bit of shooting (certainly more than I), why don't you run a scientifically meaningful experiment on your own dime and report back to us, instead of running down the work of others.

I did:

Ammo-caused malfunctions have been well-known from day 1 of the M16. They're the reason for about 80% of the bad reputation that the platform has suffered through the years, and the sad thing is it was the ammo that was initially used during about the first year of service...
