I didn't think logging in was required to just read everything.

It's not. I was just pointing out that lurkers who read but don't post are not inactive and shouldn't be removed for lack of posting.

The actual decision on what criteria to use, though, is above my pay grade.

Without an account you will have to find where you left off when following a thread and can’t sub to threads that peak your interest.

While I stopped posting for a while, I still checked in every couple weeks to catch up on the funny picture thread.

Dormant accounts that start FSOTs are the majority of threads I report. As often as not, the account has been hacked and is setting up a sham sale.
