Yep - no way I'm eating one over 50 lbs. IMHO they get to tasting like I'm eating pork steak out of a garbage can if they get much bigger. I shot a piglet a couple years ago that was tasty. About a 10 pounder.

Nice hog. Nail that big boar too.

Must be wonderful owning your own land and being able to hunt whenever you can or want to hunt. I am pretty sure I'd be eating lots more pork, than I am now if I had at least several acres. I also would be eating a lot of other game critters - as many as I legally could shoot and get in my belly, with plenty left to share with my son.

Yes big stinky pigs. We shoot the shit out of them but dont make a dent. We shoot the shoats and they go on the spit, but the stinkers get left out in the way back for the buzzards. Here is a batch of shoats following a big stinker.

Lots of folks will rubber band / cut young pigs caught in a trap. Nuts will fall off and you have a testosterone free boar. They are fantastic eating.

Pigs will travel a bunch as well. Your neutered boy could have come from somewhere else.

Barr hogs are not uncommon here in my area. Shot 2 year before last I thought were sows that weren’t.

The 2 old guys I know who trapped hogs for a very long time never did that, even to the hogs they kept for themselves for meat.
