My first encounter with this "zero tolerance" bullshit was with my own kid. (they had just started in with it when i was in high school, by then I was into weights and powerlifting so I didn't get messed with a whole lot!)
Anyway some little turd hit my kid, he hit them back I get called to the principles office. Principle explained the issue and didn't like my "what the **** am I doing here if he was defending himself" response. My son still got suspended I told them this was horse shit. On the way out to the car my kid was scared shitless cause I was pissed. This is his conversation with me,
Kiddo, are you mad at me?
Me, did you start it?
Kiddo, no he did?!
Me, then you and I are good!
Kiddo, your not mad at me?
Me, you have right to defend yourself, the school is wrong in this!
Kid, can we go to the zoo tomorrow?
(it was tues and he was suspended for 2-3 days)

I don't get this shit, they are teaching kids to be huge pansies. What the hell.
