Another good example why magazine limits will get victims injuried/killed

This story from Florida describes victim being attacked by three bad guys. With some states/cities limiting one to 10 or less rounds you have to make every round count, no jams. And what happens when 10 isn't enough and you have to reload. The bad guys aren't reloading at that time.

An early morning home invasion in West Melbourne, Florida didn’t turn out the way the suspects were hoping. In fact, their unwanted incursion into an armed citizen’s apartment ended with multiple suspects shot, while those who had every right to be in the apartment emerged unscathed.

While I think mag limits are a bad thing, I see nowhere how this case is an example of how mag limits will get you killed. Mag limits were not at play in this story. There is no report on how many shots were fired, only that the homeowner shot 3 suspects, killing 1. For all we know, the guy was using a 5 shot revolver and no reloads.

Here are two takes on recent defensive use of gun; one on how close CA resident didn't have enough rounds left in mag after initial shooting (2 of 10) and then legal insight along with deadly statistics to survive a DGU.

Colion Noir channel has an interview with this homeowner about the shooting. Take a listen and so will the DA for something to charge the guy if he/she is so inclined. Best advice I have heard when in defensive gun use is no talking without your lawyer. Better yet let your lawyer do all the talking. I haven't come across any interviews by Elisjsha Dicken after taking down the shooter at the Greenwood Park Mall, IN July 2022

Defend yourself and family and have your gun permit revoked. That's California.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department notified Vince Ricci, the Los Angeles Mid-City homeowner who opened fire on armed suspects who tried to get into his house, that his carry permit had been revoked.

On Thursday, Ricci stated that the Sheriff's Department called him to let him know that his permit to carry a concealed firearm had been revoked because he "yelled" at responding LAPD officers a few days later when they came out to investigate the incident further.

It is unknown if there are other mitigating factors that played a role in Ricci having his permit revoked, but one thing is certain: Ricci is now a defenseless citizen when he goes out in public because he can no longer carry a firearm.

Mr. Ricci replies on Twitter to having his license revoked for saying mean things to cops.

From the Bearing Arms blog;

Robert F. Turner debunks some of this thinking and talks about why a round limit is a terrible idea.

Only in Hollywood do people shot with a 9mm bullet immediately fall to the ground dead. People have been hit more than 20 times with such bullets and survived the experience. While homeowners generally do not wish to kill an intruder—or intruders, as home invasions and other violent crimes are often committed by multiple armed assailants—or anyone else, to be successful, they must act quickly to do whatever is necessary to end the threat. And doing that often requires multiple hits.
There is also a serious risk of repeatedly missing the target under the stress of a gunfight. A study of New York Police Department shootings between 1998 and 2006 revealed that trained police officers hit their targets under the stress of a gunfight 18% of the time. On average, that’s just under two hits with a 10-round magazine. And that includes superficial wounds that have little chance of incapacitating the criminal.

A similar study of 149 officer-involved shootings by the Dallas Police Department...
