Does anyone know of any mechanical designer positions open in the Houston area? Many years of Inventor and Solid Works experience. Any leads would be appreciated.

have your friend try setting up a search in "linkedin?" I'm sure you're already doing that. Starting about thursday/friday last week, I noticed sharp decline of interesting jobs in the houston area. I'm not a designer but some of those jobs come up in my search string. pm me your friend's email address and i'll forward him any jobs solidworks / inventor w/experience until you can get up and running if he's not already using search strings.

Maybe you could do some freelance work while searching for a perm position? Lots of folks these days looking to get a part modeled for rapid prototyping and the like... Here's a few places to look:

Had a Headhunter call me a short while back to see if I was interested in filling a similar position out here in the Hillsboro/Whitney area. I believe though, not dead certain at all, it was AutoCAD 3D. If you want, I'll see what I can do about finding the contact info. The Headhunter might have some contacts on the coast, ya never know.
